Battle of Armageddon, Overview
There are 3 large military powers will meet and do battle against each other or against Jesus in the land of Israel. Antichrist (Europe) Western Alliance, Russia Alliance, and China Alliance. All these nations will be brought to a place called Armageddon. The ancient city of Megiddo existed on the north side of the plain of Jezreel and was always a great military stronghold.
Gathering of the Armies of the Antichrist
The Euphrates River will be dried up, making it faster and easier for the armies of the “kings from the east” to assemble. Satan goal will be the final destruction of the Jews.
The two witnesses for 3 1/2 years, said there would be no rain, which would includes regions of Palestine, European, North African, and areas draining into the Euphrates. The riverbed would now exposed and no longer stands as a barrier to any army that wishes to cross it.
Revelation 16:12-16 The sixth angel poured his bowl on the great Euphrates River. Its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east. (13) Then I saw three disgusting spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. (14) They are demonic spirits that perform signs. They go to the kings of the whole earth and gather them for the war of the great Day of God Almighty. (15) “See, I am coming like a thief. How blessed is the person who remains alert and keeps his clothes on! He won’t have to go naked and let others see his shame.” (16) The spirits gathered the kings to the place that is called Armageddon in Hebrew.
Babylon Destroyed
In this stage, the activity shifts from the gathering of the armies of the Antichrist to the destruction of Babylon.
While the Antichrist is with his armies in Armageddon, his capitol will be attacked and destroyed. Babylon is the worldwide economic and religious center of activity during the tribulation. The warfare will be intense and the destruction will be massive.
Revelation 16:18-19 There were flashes of lightning, noises, peals of thunder, and a powerful earthquake. There has never been such a powerful earthquake since people have been on the earth. (19) The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. God remembered to give Babylon the Great the cup of wine filled with the fury of his wrath.
Zephaniah 3:8 “Just you wait!” declares the LORD. “The day will come when I stand up as a prosecutor, for I am determined to assemble the nations and to gather the kingdoms, in order to pour out my indignation upon them, all of my fierce anger. All the earth will be consumed by the fire of my jealousy.
Isaiah 24:21 “And it will come about at that time, the LORD will punish the armies of the exalted ones in the heavens, and the rulers of the earth on earth.
Revelation 18:10 Frightened by the torture that she experiences, they will stand far away and cry out, “How terrible, how terrible it is for that great city, the powerful city Babylon, because your judgment arrived in a single hour!“
Something to think about, Jesus tells us, His Saints, to be happy:
Revelation 18:20 Be happy about her, heaven, saints, apostles, and prophets, for God has condemned her for you!”
Revelation 18:21 Then a powerful angel picked up a stone that was like a large millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “The great city Babylon will be thrown down violently, and will never be found again.
Although the Antichrist will be the world ruler, very angry, he cannot return home, his overall control will not be absolute. Now we see why Jerusalem falls and the covenant is broken.
Jerusalem Falls
Although the Antichrist’s capital will have been destroyed, his forces will not have been lost. The Antichrist will move south against Jerusalem. The Antichrist’s forces will sweep down to capture Jerusalem.
Zechariah 14:1-2 “Look! A day is coming for the LORD, when your plunder will be divided among you. (2) I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem, to lay siege against it. The city will be captured, the houses will be ransacked, the women raped, and half of the city will go into exile, but the remaining people will not be cut off from the city.
The Antichrist Moves South Against Remnant, after 3 years
The Antichrist breaks his treaty with Israel, pollutes the newly rebuilt Holy Temple, and issues a decree to kill the entire Jewish population. One third of the Jews will make it safely out of Jerusalem and flee into the desert.
Luke 21:20-22 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. (21) Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. (22) For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
The campaign now shifts into the desert and mountains, to the location about 80 miles south of Jerusalem to the area of Bozrah/Petra. At the beginning of the second half of the tribulation, after the 2 witnesses.
The Beast army pursues the remnant in Edom, Jesus Destroys them
Look who is really in charged.
Revelation 12:12-13 So be glad, heavens, and those who live in
them! How terrible it is for the earth and the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, filled with rage, knowing that his time is short!” (13) When the dragon saw that it had been thrown down to the earth, it pursued the woman who had given birth to the boy.
Revelation 12:14-16 However, the woman was given the two wings of a large eagle so that she could fly away from the serpent to her place in the wilderness, where she could be taken care of for a time, times, and half a time. (15) From its mouth the serpent spewed water like a river behind the woman in order to sweep her away with the flood. (16) But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed from its mouth.
Revelation 12:17-18 The dragon became angry with the woman and went away to do battle against the rest of her children, the ones who keep God’s commandments and hold on to the testimony about Jesus. (18) Then the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore.
Galatians 3:29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Isaiah 34:2-3 For the LORD is angry against all the nations, and furious against all their armies. He has doomed them to destruction, and given them up to be slaughtered. (3) Their slain will be thrown out; and as for their dead bodies—their stench will ascend; the mountains will be soaked with their blood.
Isaiah 34:5-6 For my sword will be seen in the heavens. Look! It descends in judgment on Edom, on the people I have doomed to destruction. (6) The LORD has a sword bathed in blood; it’s covered with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, and with fat from the kidneys of rams.”
Isaiah 34:7 Wild oxen will fall together with them—young steers and mighty bulls. Their land will be drenched with blood, and their soil will be swollen with fat.
Isaiah 34:8-9 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for Zion’s cause. (9) Edom’s streams will be turned into burning sulfur, and its dust into sulfur; its land will become pitch.
Final battle, Magog,
Isaiah 34:10 It will burn night and day, and will never be extinguished. Its smoke will rise from generation to generation, and it will lie desolate forever and ever. And no one will pass through it.
Israel Petition Jesus return,
Before Jesus can return, there must be a repentance of sin by Israel and a pleading for the Jesus to return. This will come as the armies of the Antichrist are poised to destroy the Jews in the wilderness.
Hosea 5:14 Therefore I will be like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear them to pieces, and then I will leave. I will take them away, and there will be no rescue.
Hosea 5:15 “I will leave and go back to my place until they {Ephraim & Judah} admit their offense and seek my face. When affliction comes to them, they will eagerly seek me.”
Living in the rocks, holes and graves of the Petra/Bozrah area, the nation of Israel confesses, repents, and receives the Lord Jesus as their Savior with the words of Isaiah 53:1-9.
Jesus will return by rescuing the Israelites Remnant with wrath and to
conquer. Blood will be about 4 feet deep, for 183 miles, from Megiddo to Petra. {Rev 14:14-20}
Revelation 14:19-20 So the angel swung his sickle in the earth, gathered the grapes from the earth, and threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath. (20) The wine press was trampled outside the city, and blood flowed from the wine press as high as a horse’s bridle for about 183 miles.
Bozrah: {Heb}The capital of Edom; Petra {Greek} = sheepfold or fortress.
The Second Coming of Jesus
The prayers of the Jews are answered as Jesus Christ will return to earth to defeat the armies of the Antichrist at Petra/Bozrah and to begin the final portions of the campaign.
Matthew 24:30-31 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all ‘the tribes of the land will mourn‘ when they see ‘the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven’ with power and great glory. (31) He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to another.”
He will return to earth in the clouds, in the same manner in which He departed. At His second coming, Jesus, will enter battle with the Antichrist’s forces, China and Russia forces,
According to Jude, Jesus will return with His Saints.
Jude 1:14-15 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, (15) to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
The Final Battle
The Antichrist, Beast will be slain by Jesus. Beginning at Bozrah and moving back to Jerusalem and the Kidron Valley (also known as the Valley of Jehoshaphat),
Jesus will engage and destroy the Antichrist’s and other forces.
Isaiah 63:1 “Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, in garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in such splendor, marching in his great might? It is I, speaking in vindication, mighty to save.
Isaiah 63:2-3 “Why is your clothing red, and your garments like those worn by the ones who tread in the winepress? (3) “I have trodden the winepress alone, and from my people no one was with me, I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath; their lifeblood spattered on my garments, and I stained all my clothing.
Isaiah 63:4-5 “For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year for my redeeming work had come. (5) I looked, but there was no helper, I was appalled that there was no one to give support; so my own arm brought me victory, and as for my wrath, it supported me.
Isaiah 63:6 I trampled people in my anger; in my wrath I made them drunk and I poured out their lifeblood on the ground.“
Nahum 1:2-3 The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his foes and vents his wrath against his enemies. (3) The LORD is slow to anger but great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.
Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,
Zechariah 14:12-13 “This will be the plague with which the LORD inflicts all of the people who have attacked Jerusalem: he will cause their flesh to rot away, even while they’re standing on their feet. He will cause their eyes to rot away in their sockets, and their tongues to rot away in their mouths. (13) At that time, they will be stricken with a terrible panic from the LORD. Everyone will attack each other.
Revelation 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
Satan gathers the nations and armies against Jesus return, for the great war
Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
Revelation 19:20-21 The beast was captured, along with the false prophet who had performed signs on its behalf. By these signs the false prophet had deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. (21) The rest were killed by the sword that belonged to the rider on the horse and that came from his mouth, and all the birds gorged themselves with their flesh.
To the Mount of Olives
Zechariah 14:3 “Then the LORD will go out to battle against those nations, waging war as in a day of battle.
Zechariah 14:4 His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. Then the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a very large valley, with half of the mountain moving toward the north and half toward the south.
Zechariah 14:5 You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel {means Mount of Olives}; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!
With the destruction of the Antichrist and his forces complete, the campaign will be over and Jesus will go and stand on the Mount of Olives.
The campaign of Armageddon and the tribulation has ended.
Satan and demons are Bound and put away {Rev 20:1-3}
Revelation 20:1-2 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key to the bottomless pit, with a large chain in his hand. (2) He captured the dragon, that ancient serpent, also known as the devil and Satan, and tied him up for a thousand years.
Revelation 20:3 He threw him into the bottomless pit, locked it, and sealed it over him to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were over. After that he must be set free for a little while.
Start of the Millennium, Jesus sets up His Kingdom on the earth;
Seventh Trumpet
Revelation 11:15 When the seventh angel blew his trumpet, there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The world’s kingdom has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will rule forever and ever.” Father and Jesus
We will be there when this happens, as Kings and Priests. Exciting for our future.
This is really, really going to happen to each of us.
Be made alive and Changed to Spirit.
